I am in an experiment to show (myself primarily) that a person can put God first, seek first his kingdom, and spend time with God daily. The experiment seeks to show that if a person does put God first then not only will a crazy job and life not fall apart- it will thrive.
I am enjoying my time with the Lord each day and yesterday I really felt the Lord speak to me in an encouraging way about blogging. The Lord has to encourage me a lot- and when I need it he always rushes it to me. The Lord is so faithful to help us in our weaknesses. I heard about a man who was incapacitated and in a hospital yesterday and I was praying for him today but as I sit here I have been thinking about what if I were incapacitated? The thing is- the Lord would be right by my side. I could fellowship with the Lord and he would hold my hand even if I were helpless. He is so gentle with us that no matter what He is by our side.
The Lord wants us to know he doesn't leave us, he does stand by our side no matter what, and he is sweet and gentle with us. Jesus is "The Lamb of God", that is one of his names- think about that- out of all the descriptive names He could have chosen for Himself Jesus chose a lamb. A lamb is a baby sheep - what could be more sweet and gentle than that. The Lord interacts with us and relates to us through our physical world. How amazing that he called himself the gentlest and sweetest little animal the ancient Jewish world could relate to- a lamb.
Lets apply that to us today and see how that helps us. A lamb is the least scary animal you could think of, the least threatening, the most simple, and the most gentle. YOUR GOD CALLED HIMSELF A LAMB AS A MESSAGE. He won't be harsh with you when you come to him, he won't reject you, he will be soft, sweet and gentle with you. Jesus said a couple of supportive things in this regard. (these are not direct quotes, only from memory) He said, "Come to me all you who are weary and heavy burdened- and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart". He also said, "Whoever comes to me I will in no way cast out". He also said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them- for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these". So you can see there are other scriptures that also point out the compassion and gentleness of Jesus.
God called himself a lamb as a message - you can draw near to him - he's soft, warm, and inviting. He doesn't reject you. In fact I love the Bible passage that says not only is he not harsh but its "God's kindness that leads you to repentance".
Try it- talk to Jesus the Lamb of God today.
Let's GO God- we depend on your help today.
