30 Day Test - Day #1

What is this?  An experiment.  I am so busy and my time with the Lord was lacking.  This is a test of spending time with the Lord faithfully for 30 days - as a test that by putting him first in my life and prioritizing time with him... he will help with the rest.  I will blog daily during this test.

Bible Passage:
Psalm 46 - this is what spoke to me in my daily Psalm:
 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
         He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
         He burns the chariot in the fire.
 10 Be still, and know that I am God;
         I will be exalted among the nations,
         I will be exalted in the earth!
11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
         The God of Jacob is our refuge.(NKJV)

My Psalm of the day had several things that spoke to me today but a couple of things I was particularly encouraged by above was:
- "He makes wars cease" - so whatever my conflicts or challenges are God can actively get involved in stopping them- so focus on God and not the conflict or problem.
- "Be still and know that I am God" - this speaks to me because of this 30 day test itself, its all about stopping the rat race, stopping the rush, and getting still before the Lord and spending time with him-- knowing that He is God and he can make things work out.

Praise & Thanksgiving:
* Thank you Lord for calling my attention to my idolatry in your typical kind, sweet, and teaching way.  Thank you for bearing with our weaknesses in your great love and helping us to come to understand this kind of thing.  Thank you that it was really your idea to have me test you in spending time with you- all of your ways are truthful and something that we can rely on- and even test.
* Thank you for my family, my job, our church, our home, and all of our blessings.
* Thank you for this blog which can be such a neat outlet for me.
* Thank you for your Word which teaches us.
* Thank you Lord that you can be known- and that you greatly desire us just like I desire my own children.

Meditation & Listening:
* Its good to sit in the presence of the Lord silently and see if he reveals something encouraging or inspiring to you.  When you do sit - do not hold him accountable to say anything.  Just sit.  Trust.  And as Psalm 46 above said "Be still and know that I am God".  Trust him that changes are happening slowly, gradually, but effectively. Don't worry about random thoughts, trust him with that too.  Shhhhhh.

Prayer Requests:
* Please bless this 30 days- help me to truly draw near to you and prioritize you on the throne of my heart.  Also help me to get closer to my family during this time.
* Please help and bless me in the area of fitness- as you bless my time show me how to fit in at least some modest regular time to work on this.
* Bless our Web project, show us what to do, help us to have time to do it, help us to get a little "lucky" too.
* Bless our kids at school, help them to really wrap it up strong with their learning and to do well.
* Bless my sales quarter at work- help us to crush it!
* At work help me to accomplish project codename "Dash" by end of next week.
* Please heal little "M" at my youngest daughter's school of Bacterial Meningitis!
* Please heal "DM" that man I am praying for and give him hope in Christ - and bless  his family life- restore him better than ever in you.
* Bless and heal my Grandfather- heal him totally and ensure his salvation.
* Bless everyone who reads this and follows this 30 day journey, change their lives and mine through this.

Ok - now let's GO God!

Thank you, brother, for this blog and for your web ministry. You were the answer to my prayer for encouragement tonight as I walk a path very similar to yours.
