Last day in jungle

Today we left Raiti and headed back to our launch city early in the morning.

Sun started breaking through.

Long day heading home has barely begun.

Amazing.

We had three boats full of people in our party.

Sweet orphan sisters.

Their brother with his arms crossed on the bank.

Martin giving Kevin pedialyte.

Yummy lunch stop at a friends house along the river.

The drink was corn meal and cocoa -great!

Nearing home base Eric is walking on a final off boat connecting hike and we stopped at a small village during that hike to administer the anti parasitic meds.

Back on the river.

Dinner at the Mayor, Ana's mom and dad's house- so good again.

Chit chatting after dinner and being introduced to another orphan needing surgery story.

Being introduced to the little orphan boy who needs surgery and his sister.  He is 9, she is 5, and another sister is 10.  They are orphans because their drunken father killed their mother in front of his son.  Later someone killed the father.  The boy needs corrective surgery for an embarrassing birth defect.  He is so damaged he won't look up off of the floor.  He touched my heart and I felt for him so I rushed over to him and just gave him a big hug which he really responded to.
